Distributor vacuum capsule

Hi,

1.3 CL has played up badly since the weekend.

Won't idle when cold. Won't pull away. Coughs, splutters and even backfired, untill up to temperature. Then, when hot, runs well at higher revs, but not at 20-40mph.

After 3 days of frustration I've found the fault

The vacuum capsule is u/s and letting air into the carb.

I,d checked: Air intake Vacuum hoses & air flap.
                 : Fuel filter and hoses.
                 : Carb hoses and manifold gasket.
                 : Dwell Angle & Timing.
With the hose off the distributor and sealed for timing all was OK.
Even when the hose was recconected the change of engine pitch indicated that the capsule was working. BUT running the car with the hose off and sealed confirmed the problem.

I hope this process of illimination is of help to others.

BTW has anyone got a capsule for a 036905205C or G Dizzy?
