I fitted a Accuspark kit to my 1978 Mk1 Scirocco, fairly straightforward to fit the kit, hardest bit was finding a 12v power supply from the fuse box which was still powered when the engine was on the starter motor.

Something like this, check you get the right kit for which make of distributor you have fitted to the car.

AccuSpark Electronic Ignition

Not sure about delivery cost for you but there is a few other makes out there as well.

1988 Mk1 Golf GTi Cabriolet 1.8cc DX, K-jet. Daily drive. 317,000 miles and counting
1978 Mk1 Scirocco GLS 1.6cc FR, Webber carb. Weekend toy.

Not 100% sure for your car but when I changed mine I kept the original coil.
