tyre width/effect on steering weight?

done a bit of a search but cant find what im after .

my cab has 205/45/16 on
my partner fancys driving it but the steerings pretty heavy as expected now not realy wanting to go down the power steering road as its just a run round as i mint my rado.

so if i were to go and buy some 13 inch steelies and put say 165 tyres on just how mutch lighter would it make it a fair amount?

alot of peeps on here must have gone from 13s to say 16s etc did ya notice the differance?

i know its a bit of a poor question but if she cant drive it il have to sell it :(

cheers for any opinions

tyre width, wheel offset and tyre pressure will all effect the weight of the steering. 165s on a 14" rim should be the best compromise between the looks and the weight. also make sure the offset of the rim is as close to 38 as possible.

another thing is do you have the stock steering wheel or a tiny after market one? as the bigger OE steering wheels make the steering easier too.

Make of tyre can make a difference,  when i changed my standard gti fitment with cheap unheard of tyres to a 7x15 and 195 yokohama tyre the steering lightened up considerably, but your 205,s are too big anyway.
