HELP, WHAT TYRES? 13"8"mk1

Hi can any advise me on the best tyre size for handling on my ATS Classics 13"8" it is currenty running 195-45-13 on my mk1 gti which seem on the small side at 506mm where the standard wheels are 175-70-13 at 575mm i under stand this is for the look. Just wondering what are other people running on there 13"8"? 8O
