Cable change to rod change?

Hi all,

Is it possible to change a later cable change box back to rod change?

I have and ABF in my mk1 and was thinking of matching it with the right box but want to keep the rod change.

Basically theb ox thats in it is from an unknown source and i dont think its up to the job ratio wise.

Is it true that diesel boxes are stronger etc?

yes fit a mk1/2 210mm clutch kit matched to the gearbox you plan to fit (8v has smaller input shaft than mk2 16v or mk3 2.0 8v) and a MK1/2 210mm flywheel. if you go abf managment makes no odds what flywheel you fit, if you go carbs or kjet use a mk1/2 gti one (6 degree timing mark for 16v ecu)

diesel boxes are same as normal boxes strength wise, you may find ratios too tall. the abf has plenty of torque for a diesel box mind, it'll just fell more like a GT car than a GTI
