Brake fluid leaking

Hi all. Hoping someone can offer some advice. Was having a nice drive in the cabby in the sunshine yesterday on a little country lane  8) . Didnt see the pothole and passengers side wheel went in it. All seemed ok, and parked up a  mile later at a shop. When pulling away, saw a load of liquid had been dumped.  :( A look under the car and I saw that the liquid appears to have come from the front passengers side wheel. Its quite a clear liquid, with a slightly viscous feel to it. Im guessing brake fluid. Can anyone suggest what might have happened? Thanks.

Check the brake fluid reservoir - it has a partition down the middle, meaning if one of the dual circuits has a leak, the other won't suffer.

Your low brake fluid warning light should have come on, if one of the circuits has lost its fluid.

I'm not going to try suggest what the fluid is from your description, after all brake fluid has a straw colour, its not clear, etc.

Obvious thing is to remove the wheel and inspect it - did you do this?

Thanks Paul. Turns out it was just a bit of MK1 paranoia on my part. Nothing found to be leaking, brake fluid levels normal, brakes working fine. I think that maybe a load of water got trapped in the wheel when I went through the pothole and what I saw on the ground was just dirty, slightly oily water. SO, no damage done it seems. Phew.  :D
