Buying mk1 hill climb car

Buying track/hill climb car
Hi all, I'm new to the forum but had a few vw golfs over the years. I'm looking at a golf that's for sale in the classifieds on here, it's a black/red tin top but it's a sprint/hill climb car. I know it's not a car to be turned back original but that's ok as I'm after a track car and occasionally on the road. I thought it was a lot of car and bits that are on it for the money but I would really appreciate the views of people with a lot more knowledge of these cars.
