New member with new project

Hi all
Ive just joined up to this cool site I have owned a couple of mk2 GTI's over the years and have a nice little restoration project coming up, some of the members Mk1's here are truley awesome for their age, I have just bought a 1983 mk1 golf GTI in Lhasa Green, its been stood at my friends house for about 5 years and is well due a restoration.

I live in Manchester but the car is Bedford, so for now I am just making arrangements to get it back to Manchester on a transporter as it hasnt been started for a while and has a lot of parts taken off (luckily the parts are still with the car)

I did take some photos of the car last week when visiting and will post them as soon as I can.

I know from just looking at the car it is still solid, the arches, cills floors and doors are solid but the boot lid is rusty.

Once I get the car back to manchester I will asses what else I will need and will try to get it running before I strip it down for restoration.

Nice one mike,lhasa green is the best colour,my gx is that colour,like the runabout   i 'run about' in a passat 130tdi se,when i dont want to dirty mk mk1's  8)
