new from Inverness

hi all just got myself a 1981 auto golf convertible 1600
got it today off a boy that had it sitting in a garage from 1994  
he just put a mot on it and tax's so first time on the road in 17 years
not new to vws got a 69 beetle and a 73 bay window camper that took me 3 years
to put back on the road

Sounds like a great find, how did it drive after 17 years ?

I am Scotland's regional host and I will be sorting out some meets after our lovely winter is over, I have a thread going on Regional forum, look out for it as it would be great for us few mk1 owners in Scotland to get together at car shows up here !!

I think there us a few owners from up your way already on the forum?

do you go to vw show at bigger in may ?
it drives fine so far have not done many miles yet
going to try put it all back to standered as i went all out on the bay camper

Yes I went to volksfling this year on the Saturday in the torrential downpours  
It was my first show as I only got my mk1 just over a year ago!

we have been the last 5 years but its in the camper dont like tents now
might see you there next year if you go

Yes I will be going, don't know if I will camp or just go for the day ?

I will try and get as many mk1's at the meet next year!!

hi,yes there are a few from the area,i remember calling the guy about your cab when it was on gumtree but he sounded confused about his advert :? ,

i am never able to go away to shows so stick to very local ones,love going up to tain,really good day out.

he did with me to but when i went up he had about 6 cars for sale all makes
we have a wee vw club in inverness you are more than welcome to come to the meets that we have g83

i wish a camper will stay a dream,i will be trying to work on stripping one of my mk1's without ever trying anything like this before so i'll be busy with that for some time to be thinking about a camper.
