Not really.  Everything else is free.  I think it's pretty fair.

I could post parts that may help other mk1 owners, but because you have to be a member I cant.

Other forums can keep everthing open and free. For example look at the PCGB forum, IMO one of the best on the web. Its not like this web site isnt full of trade ads.

Also I bet if you did a count of non members to members posts, its the non members that keep forums like this interesting.

Personally I don't see anything wrong with it.  People would be selling to a mk1 fan base and therefore increase the chance of a sale.  Why shouldn't the club be rewarded for this and use the money to push the club forward?

If you have to spend ?15 advertising it here where there are more interested eyes or e-bay it's all the same, it all costs.  I'm not on any commitee or anything but I can't see a problem with only members selling here as it means you can near enough guarantee the person is trustworthly.  Scammers could use our sites cars for sale section and reflect negatively on the club.  It protects the mk1 community and this site.  If you don't want to be a member then there's always other places to sell such as e-bay, edition38 etc.  I see your point but it's a choice and benefit for contributing to the site.  That's not a bad thing in my eyes as it helps towards keeping our club alive and social events such as the anual meeting.
