Gti Mk1 In ireland

Hey!

Im a newbie to the site.

In the recent week shave purchased a 1981 Mk1 gti in cardiff and Imported it to Ireland. Is the only one in the area…and has attrached loads of attention to itself.

Have owned old cars in the past but this one just stands out. in the next couple of weeks I am sending the car to have a engine rebuild/ two new wings and a complete respray in the original colour.

Would love to hear from Mk1 owners either in Northern Ireland or the republic.

Thanks

Welcome to the club. There are a number of members from ROI and NI who post regularly on this site. One of our moderators (Type17) is from Ireland. Great to hear another mk1 being returned to its former glory, be good to see some pics - what is the original colour?

Just spotted this thread (was on the www.octane.ie forums all last night    )

Welcome to all new owners and hi again to existing folks from this side of the Irish Sea!

My (and my brother's) collection is below (sig pic), although we are in the process of getting rid of at least some of them, as the land that they are on is going to be used in the new year

Still, it's an ill wind… - keep an eye on the "for sale" section in the coming months  :)

PS: Whereabouts is home for you, Lep?
