Trip to Ireland and a run around the ring of Kerry

Post

Important!

Who would be interested ?

Hi,

Last year some of the club members had a great trip to Ireland and this year we are going to organise another one - so who is up for it ?

The plan is to go from Fishguard to Rosslaire on Friday the 5th September. Depending where you are coming from we couLd organise a convoy.

The return date being considered is either the 7th or 8th September.

We would meet up with some of the Irish members and go for several drive outs around that lovely part of the world, Hugh Shughy would work that out.

For accommodation the is a range of B&B's or posher hotels ranging from 60 to 130 Euro per night.

The ferry crossing is about £263 for one car with two adults.

So you need to be thinking around £500 for the trip plus fuel.

We are trying to get group discounts but really need to know the numbers of people that are genuinely interested in  the trip.

Pleas reply to this post to indicate if you would like to get involved.

Hi Ade

This is a great drive - around the ring of Kerry - spectacular scenery and great beaches. A real fun day out in your mk1!  :)Myself and Paul (Cranky) have been looking into hotels last couple of weeks to check out prices and availability. So far prices have been favourable for early September.

So if interested get your names down and we can make plans for a weekend in Kerry.

Cheers Hugh.

I'm proabably not going to make it either, but thanks for the invite.

My 3 week rebuild is now into its 8th month. Ran out of time. Still it's not going anywhere, so maybe if I get some time between now and then…

Excellent Craig !

The details will firm up once I have a better idea of numbers. But the aim is to drive to Pembroke or Fishguard and get an afternoon (14:45) Ferry on Friday 5th September and then return on Monday 8th September getting the early ferry (8:45am).

Cheers,
Ade

I`d be interested in this too, will the further details cover any available accommodation and any mileage distances so that I can do my sums ?  although I may have a potential passenger to share the costs anyway but still need to work out affordability.
thanks for the invite Ade.

Delighted with interest shown so far…

Paul & I have put together some accommodation packages for a two night stay with one dinner on the sat night in sneem for €99 or £82 approx per person sharing. Don't want to realease all prices just yet.

You will probably need more accommodation near Rosslare on the return leg so cost factor here.

Trip from rosslare to sneem is about 4 hrs.

Ring of Kerry is planned for the full day on Saturday - departing about 10:00. Return about 18:00. Trip is about 100 miles. Plenty of places to stop.

Hope u have your calculator out!  ;)

Cheers Hugh.
