driver --> gti conversion
Hi,
Help!
If i picked up a decent gti engine for say 200 quid, is it feasable to fit it to my golf driver? are they basically the same, ect? what wud need to be changed on the driver, besides brakes?

Brakes, suspension, fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel accumulator, fuel lines, fuel pump relay + wiring, seats, door cards (?), headlining (?), front grille, different texture on side stripes, badges, etc etc
There's a ton of differences between the GTI and the other Mk1 models, even the Driver. And you've still ended up with a 'fake' GTI instead of a real one. It would make more sense to seek out a real one, they are plentiful if you keep looking…..
