changing the v5

heya guys does any one know where i will find the engine number on my 1800 16v kr engine . i know theres 1 on the head but is that it?
and also any thing i should know about when fill out the v5 and sending it off with the changes to my mk1 ?

Engine number location has been covered 1000000s of times - search should reveal useful info.

As for DVLA notification…..good luck…..

DVLA will need written evidence of any changes to engine number and cylinder capacity (cc). Written evidence can be:

-a receipt for the replacement engine
-written evidence from the manufacturer
-an inspection report provided for insurance purposes
-written confirmation on headed paper from a garage if the change in engine size took place before you bought the vehicle

Although having said that, I've heard plenty of anecdotal evidence where people have simply filled in the changed details, sent it off and got the updated V5 back with no issues.

I just sent mine off without any explanation a week ago.

Well I got the letter back saying I need to provide proof etc etc which was no surprise.

I guess I'll provide proof then…… Now where did I put that receipt of fitment.  :mrgreen:

Lol least u got 1 fink when I do mine it will be a trip to the DVla being as I've done mine myself n the engine come with the project I bought

Just thought I'd let you know I got my V5 back today all changed and sorted.

It's not as hard as everyone makes out after all. I just typed up a letter with all the details on it and signed it.

Śounds good what dort of fings did u put in the letter ? I'm not very good when it comes to writing lol .

Just stated that Mr xxxxx fitted the engine on xxxx date into vehicle xxxx then engine number and capacity of new engine and fuel type.

Absolute joke really I even phoned them and told them it was done on my driveway with a friend being paid with beer tokens. They told me to tap up the details in a letter and that's what I did.

No dramas.
