Don't forget to move the fuel lines to the other side of the engine bay (you'll need to disconnect the steering to do this), before you put the new engine in!

I got the engine from Jamiegolf and i don't think i need to move any of the fuel lines, what would be the reason for this paul? just in case!
Thx

hey chris, you do need to move the fuel lines, i cut mine under the car about half way back and made new ones from copper pipe, there are clips on the inner wing that the pipes run through. if you look where your originals run you wuill see what i mean

Does anybody know if you can get braided lines to route from the old ones?
Also can anyone put any pics up of a 16valve mk1 installed with the metering head etc on the drivers side!

Thx
Chris

Where would you route them? Yes, you could make some up - after all, the fuel line fittings are a standard size, you could in theory obtain them. But compared to moving the lines to the other side, its a lot of hassle and time.

I am amazed your steering rack - column gaitor doesn't need replacing. Every other Mk1 I've looked at, this has perished by now (unless its been recently replaced). If you disconnect the steering, you can swing the fuel lines and replace this at the same time too. You're going to have to sort something out there, since you'll be running the manifold really close to it too!
