recommend me some security

At the moment my clipper has all the security of a fridge door on it

ie bugger all.

Can anybody recommend an adequate alarm or immobiliser?

Toad AI606 is what I have fitted to my 'grale' and my previous CRX.

All round the best CAT1 for the money.

funny i should seethis today. i've just fitted a hawk alarm to my bike that i brought from ebay (?25.00) and it is fantastic. it's am alarm and immobiliser and does so much more stuff i can't remember all the button combinations. howver i did look at the car one and it had pretty much the same stuff as the bike one. absolute bargain. check it out. worth a look.

I recall a tale where someone broke into the car and nicked one of these. Not sure whether it was a TALL story though

if youre really worried about security then you could just take the HT lead from the coil to the dizzy off when not using the car

Sorry for the hijak, but I am also a previous CRX owner and a current grale owner :D Cant be many of us that owned those and mk1's, random.

Anyways, security wise I recommend a good alarm with any of the following add-ons kept in a convenient place ready

or, one of these could be fun for fending off those pesky chavs

Armor

I've had thick metal plates welded round my door locks because my bro's car got the door drilled. It was cheap and should be effective.

If your actually looking at spending some cash on it (rather than accessories!) for peace of mind/insurance purposes ive got a viper 480 vx.
Cost about ?350 tho but has a few tricks, althrough in the light of day im sure any of the accessories that have been mentioned would do the job equally as well!

richair, your suggestions only useful if you catch said schemies in the act, much like my steering wheel lock, on show on my passenger seat (when it's in) to clonk would be car jackers over the head with.
According to the manufacturers it's been proven against professional thieves (i assume they whalley'd amateur all the way up to expert thieves to prove this point). ;)

i would speak to your insurers and see who they recommend, as they might not recognize some manufacturers, and not give you a discount off your insurance :D which is always handy like.

BEWARE KY05 UCO, blind and deaf white haired driver of red transit, avoid at all costs, he thinks running cars on to the verge is ok. i'm fine, car's fine, mood and make up not so good.
