Please take note, classifieds areas are for MK1 GOLF ONLY!
This costs money, which is paid by the club members. The classifieds area supports the club's aim of keeping Mk1 Golfs alive and on the road, but we are not a charity! For any other items, there's FreeAds, or eBay, or your local free newspaper or a card in the window of your local newsagent or your noticeboard at work.
Anyone posting non-Mk1-Golf related items, will have their post removed and risks a strike, we operate a 3 strike policy and after this you will be banned from using the forum.

So does that basically mean parts that can be bolted in / on a MK1 are ok but stuff that can't aren't allowed? as a basic rule of thumb so to speak..

But Corrado rear bench seats will not be allowed (which also require cutting and fairly major modifications)
I'm confused. :dontknow:
Not trying to rock the boat but if rules are to be imposed surely it would be better to have them clearly defined so people know where they stand and do not get a 'strike' by accident.
I can see a big grey area which needs to be one or the other.
Yradave says relax.

I'd say a 16V servo conversion has a definite place in the modifying scene, its a popular brake upgrade and there's plenty about, also I'd say the actual work involved for the gain, is worthwhile.
Also its down to moderator discretion. If you were a member, of good standing, we'd let something on which might otherwise (non-member, just joined), be removed.
There's plenty of other websites to buy Corrado bits on.

If there's a grey area, the moderators would clarify it without issuing a 'strike'; and delete it if it was not Mk1-related.

If people were listing things which would never fit a mk1 then i can understand where you are coming from but to tell people you will ban them from the site if you feel an item (which could potentially be of interest to the owner of a golf) isn't popular or specific enough is surely an abuse of power?!
:dontknow:
Its use, but not abuse. The committee are democratically elected, the moderators are appointed by the Chairman. In any case, you'd need to accrue 3 strikes before a ban - so you'd have to be persistently ignoring the rules to accrue a ban. We're talking about a small minority of people who do not contribute to the general forum discussion, and do not join to become members, they simply post anything & everything VW or car related in the classifieds area. Remember, you might not have seen the stuff that goes in, because its attended to quickly, so you don't see the work that goes on 'behind the scenes'.
Nobody has been banned for persistent abuse of the classifieds areas. The main reason for me making this original post, is that there was a grey area in the rules. So this meant that we couldn't really strike people, just advise/clarifythe rules.
I'm happy enough, indeed encourage, an open discussion on the items acceptable/not acceptable, so that its clearer for everyone.
