My old Golf Clipper Cab K97 OOW

Hi Guys and gals

You probably won't remember me but I used to hang around here a couple of years back when I had my Mk1 Clipper, and still lurk around when I've not got much work on!

The reason for my reappearance is: My Car was written off by the insurance company in June 2007 as beyond economical repair when I had a low speed bump in it. I was told at the time that they would not sell it back to me as it was their policy to crush write offs. Understandably I was gutted as it had been my pride and joy and would have put it back on the road given a chance.  :banghead:

Today, out of idle curiosity I put the reg in to the DVLA vehicle inquiry form, only to see that it has tax untl 02/2010. Someone must have bought it back from the scrappy?

So I have two questions: How was it allowed to be sold on if I was told it had to be cubed? and more imortantly, has anyone seen it?!

Thanks in advance

Oh and by the way, since then I've had a Mk2 GTI and, I'm now riding round in a Series One Corrado G60 - still can't shake that damn Dub bug  :D

The policy to crush is all in their standard blurb that they send out - if you question it you will find that it is possible to buy your car back with a 'cash in lieu' settlement.

AFAIK they won't crush cars unless someone has died in them. Insurance companies sell them on to salvage companies/salvage auctions to recoup some of the cost they have paid out for the total loss settlement.
