6" x 4" speakers

Would like to install some sounds to my golf as the previous owner removed both the stereo & speakers.

I've been looking around and there doen't seem to be a great choice when it comes to getting speakers that will fit onto the rear shelf support brackets & in the front doors.

One of the previous owners had butchered the rear parcel shelf (sacrilege!!!) & installed some rather large pioneer speakers.  (The existing shelf is now goosed and is being replaced).  

I'd like a decent set that don't sound too tinny,  but will fit where they are suppose to.

any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have the JBL's in my doors, they fit perfectly but.. depends on what sort of music you like as they have good balance and the vocal is pretty strong but there isn't much bass at all they are a bit tinny.
