?5k is a pesh take.
MV will do it for ?4k including engine, the Phirm will do it for ?2.5 + VAT without.

There seems abit of a difference between 4k and 2.5k do you know what you will be getting for that seems worrying that theres such a difference in price…?? :dontknow:

Bits like re-using the clutch (150), using the standard intercooler(s) or custom (200+), gearbox-cable swap, engine managment OEM or standalone (+1000), turbo (250), injector size, exhaust (turbo back - 500), 100mm driveshaft swap, sorting out brakes….
LOVE people asking is it the 150,180,225 1.8T when running standalone.. questionable saying he bought the turbo for "225" bhp but i see theres an ECU next to it so maybe that was part of the "package".

We had a local firm put a new engine in mrs bigdaves 106 last summer and it only cost ?700 (we supplied the engine)! Im guessing it gets more expensive the bigger engine youre putting in. :dontknow:

Was she converting to an engine 20 years her junior ment for another car!?! If she was converting to a 1.6 16v engine (vts/gti) then 700 was a good deal, if it was a straight swap understandably you can see the price difference should be more - many many times more hours and fabrication!

So in a nut shell ?1200 to buy engine ?5,000 8O to fit, the question has to be is it worth ?6,200 it in the end. if you want to go fast Just buy an Impreza.
get a good one for that kind of cash.
Ben please explain where the ?5000 would go if all the bits are there and all it needs is bolting in and new mounts etc its just you are frightening folk.

In a nutshell for a basic 1.8t conversion you will spend 2k in parts, because that's what I've nearly spent and I haven't bought everything new either. If you then want to swap to a cable change gearbox that will be more, also the quality of parts - e.g ebay hoses or Samco ones etc etc etc.
Then combine the time for fabrication, installation and setting up and you can easily see where 5k goes.
There was a thread on caddyforum about this a while ago, with someone saying it was easy and should cost a grand to swap and eveyone who'd tried it said no-way. Then add in the fact the garage has overheads and have to make a living….

From personal experience i would say circa 3k was spent on the bits i used, you cant account for having to replace a turbo or custom pipes etc. You could list everything but there will be half that price in bits you didnt think of. I say to people 2k would get it going but keeping it going in a everyday driver friendly way 3k!

5k includes everything engine, ecu, map, brake upgrade, suspension upgrade ect ect
theres more to a conversion than just the engine you need to be able to stop ect and it needs to handle
