Classic car insurance
I thought it may be beneficial to explain how some policies are based, so here follows information applicable to the policies that we have access to as it may help with people looking to insure their mk1's.
The minimum age is 25, but it gets cheaper the older you are.
The vehicle has to be at least 15 years old (no problem for most owners on here!)
You have to have access to another (main) car, as these policies are designed for 2nd(3rd, 4th…) cars.
The annual mileage limit can be 1500, 3000 or 5000.
You can insure for road use or just fire and theft cover.
You can insure on a non-agreed value basis.
If you want an agreed value, you need to take some photos of the vehicle (this is how the underwriters agree the value!)
Most postcode areas will allow you to keep your vehicle on a driveway, although some will require garaging.
One of the policies gives a discount if you belong to an 'appropriate' members club (although evidence is needed).
Upto 2 minor (SP, TS etc) convictions in the past 5 years are acceptable.
There are other criteria etc that can affect quotes, such as accidents, but I hope this helps some of you when looking for insurance.
Cheers
Alex
