Advice

Hi All,
I'm new here so hello! I just bought a 1982 Gti and some G60 style steel wheel is 15" ET35 and some SSP coilovers. Can anyone give me some advice on tyre size?

I want it to look low but as practical as possible (i.e. Dont want to do 3-point turn when I spy a speed bump).

Most wheel calculators suggest a 195/50/15 but I dont think that will tuck? Anyone know? So a 185/45 might be a safer option???

Thanks in advance as a search has yielded nothing!

Are they 6"?

I'd go for 185/45 or 50 depending on how low a profile you want.

I've got 165/50 on my 6.5" front wheels.

Thanks Roach,

Yes they are 6J, I think a lower profile will suit them so i'll run with a 185/45 as 50 might look too tall in the tyre..

Is the 165/ 50 to radius the corner of the tyre? 165 sounds really narrow for a 6.5J but I'd imagine just rounds off the corner which eliminates rubbing.

Thanks again

Have a look on tyrestretch, that lists load of photos of specific width wheels with various tyre sizes.
