Tin top 3 door window regulator

Won't fit!

Hi,

I've got a dead window regulator on the passenger door of my 3 door tin top. I ordered the part off VWHeritage, (171-837-401/B) and it does not fit properly. Initially I thought I'd ordered the wrong one but the part number for a front left window regulator seems to be the same for golf and jetta 3/5 door and caddy?

When I compare the old one and new one they seem to be quite different, the main problem is the old lifter section has a curve in it to follow the profile of the door and the new one is straight and clashes with the door and the glass, won't fit at all. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Well VWH have refunded my money for the part but I'm no nearer a working window.

It would be really helpful if someone could tell me if the lifter section should be curved as mine is in the picture, or should my VWH one fit?

Thanks!

I had a similar problem but with my beetle. I ended up searching e bay and managed to get a good second hand part. Reproduction parts are never as good as original.

maybe you're supposed to bend it, or the manufacturer forgot to bend it before sending it out to heritage
