Suplemental instrument binnacle

Wiring question

My Mk1 Gti (1980) came with a box of bits which included
a supplementary instrument console.

Three gauges:
Volts
Oil temperature
Oil pressure.

Have fitted the console and connected all three.
Volts seems to work ok.
Oil temperature seems ok.
Oil pressure gives readings which I think are way out.

On tick-over 3 bar ( which equates to over 40 psi)
Accelerating - the needle goes up against the stop (which equates to overt 100 psi).

Does the oil pressure gauge have some sort of voltage regulator?

Purchased a twin pole sender marked G and WK

Connected G to the gauge
WK to the oil light on there dash.
The oil light comes on when ignition switched on, flashes, and goes out when engine starts.

Any advice very much appreciated

Thank you

For the oil pressure I guess you have fitted to wrong sensor on the engine as it does not match the gauge.

Where have you fitted the sensor?

1978 Mk1 Scirocco GLS 1.6cc FR, Webber carb. Weekend toy.

That and some of the new "Cheap Senders" are garbage.  Opt to spend a few more pounds and get one that works.

You could always reverse the leads and see if there is improvement.. I got them on backwards once.

The normal OP on mine is at startup 5bar, as the oil warms it decreases.

They all start with GOOD Grounds.
