Choke unit and seat tilt cable

Hi,

I'm looking for the following but cannot find them anywhere:

*  carburettor choke unit (part number 027129191A)
driver's-side long seat tilt cable (part number 171881596D (765mm))

Can anyone advise where I might get them?  I've tried Heritage Parts Centre and Classic VW.

It's for my late husband's mk1 Golf Clipper; it won't start in the winter without this choke unit and I don't want it to seize up through lack of use.  I've spent loads getting it running and really want to keep the car in his memory as he loved it to bits; it seems so sad it won't start because of one part.

Any help appreciated, thank you!

Please bear with me… I'm used to driving a mkiv Supra TT!!

Had same problem with the seat tilt cable. Couldnt get it anywhere, searched for ages then saw a post somewhere where i guy had made his own. So i did same, ended up buying stainless eel wire from amazon came in a pack with wire crimps and a crimp tool. Apparently the length is a pain to get. My seats are "Karman" edition which has different bowden cable lengths to just about everything else i could find.. A few of the scirrocs and corrados had the same but anyway my frames are actually recaro and have stickers on them but I could not get the cable anywhere either. anyway link below to what i used. works a treat now. you basically cut cable to length you need, double the ends back on themselves and crimpy crimpy you have anew bowden cable.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

In the past I've used welding wire to fix the seat lift/tilt problem.

Hi,

I was just told it was the carburettor choke unit (part number 027129191A).

If you can PM me I can give you my mechanic's number, or I can yours to him.

Thank you!

Thanks for the tip on the seat cable… I wouldn't be able to make anything like that… are there cables from another VW that might fit?

any piece of wire will do. Stiff wire like welding wire you can twist together or electrical cable you can tie a knot in or use an electrcial connector 'chocolate block' type connectors.

If you are not comfortable with Damage It Yourself and unable to do bodge workarounds, is a near 40yr old car is an ideal fit?
