Ignition Amplifier?

Hi, some help / advice needed please.

My 1983 Mk1 Golf starts fine. However it's recently developed an issue restarting, after I've stopped from an average journey. When I try to restart the car, the engine turns over, but doesn't fire up. After about 1.5 hours,  the engine will start again. Almost like something has cooled down,.

The AA man suggested it could be the ignition amplifier module, due to the fact that after a couple of hours, the engine will start again.

Before I change the module, does anyone have any suggestions, or concur with the AA man?

Thank you in advance.

Vincent

I don't think it is the ICM, that is if you have a Electric Diz.

You didn't mention which type of fuel you have CIS or Carbed.

Sounds more like Vapor Lock or a Coil.

Pull a plug wire and see if you are getting spark when this happens.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

When it's playing up and won't start take the plugs out and have a look to see if they're wet or dry,, you can tell which way to approach the fault then.
