Low + High Oil Pressure sender/sensor wiring

Post

Hi all, I am hoping someone here could clear up something for me.

I own a 1985 Mk1 Cabriolet with a low oil pressure light that flashes from the time the key turns on the accessories, wherever I may drive, until the key is back out of the ignition. Ive followed numerous guides from various forums, youtube clips, my Bentley and I looked for a guide in my Haynes but couldn't actually find one. The oil pressure itself is fine which led me to try finding a solution at the sensors themselves. I followed my Bentley in having the yellow wire (WK) that connects to the low oil pressure sender disconnected whilst the car is running/idling, and where the Bentley says that this should cause the light to turn off, mine did not. Straight away this points to the yellow wire being grounded elsewhere, which I understand. but what I would like to know - is that the only reason why my light will not stop flashing? and also for my own understanding (Im still learning about auto electrics) - Is the oil light on the dash fed information in regards to the oil pressure from any other source other than the low oil pressure sender and the high pressure sensor? Or once both of those are disconnected is the car blind to whats going on? I hope that I have typed this in a way that people may understand. Thank you.

There are a few reasons that your gauge can flash.
Bad Connections are the quick fix.

Bad Ground to engine/frame.
Wrong vis oil or Generic Filter.  Usually at Idle it flashes.

The flasher / Buzzer board is inside the Speedo Cluster, they have been known to go bad, and disassembly of the clocks is needed for repair.  I would verify that the connector on the cluster is Plumped out, and that I had added a new ground point to the cluster prior to ripping it out and repairing it first.  I have a how to in the archive section on that.

Low oil pressure at higher revs is usually the White Sensor at the top of the oil filter flange The Buzzer from hades in the speedo usually goes crazy.

The Pressure Sender can on the side of the head is Faulty or wired backwards.

Spent 30 minutes looking for my pic.  Found it doing a search on Google… Look where it linked me to.  :)  Photobucket in their last re-make of their site totally hoses up my pics, and folders.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.
