My Golf Mk1 problem…

Motor works perfect in a high RPM……

But in stationair RPM …. he stops working… ( also without air filter)

It's a
carburettor
1B3
Ignition is oke…….

I cleaned the two nozzels on top of the
carburettor

I orderd a new fuel filter
I can't find the solution…..

Someone a hint

If you have mechanical fuel pump, it's worth checking if you are getting the fuel pressure.

If mechanical fuel pump, does it run off the camshaft? Worn mechanical fuel pump may also cause issues as the diaphragm inside wears out.

You can test by removing the fuel pump outlet and someone cranking the engine to see if you are getting adequate fuel coming out in a container.

Its not the fuel pump.

Sounds daft, but have you adjusted the idle speed on the carb? If so, then have you also chcked the mixture, its possible its too lean (or rich) at idle but at full throttle/high rpm its no longer an issue because the main jet starts working.
