Bonnet handle disconnected

Post

Went to pop the bonnet and it just pulled straight out, now the cable is hanging loose, pulling the wire inner didn't do anything.

I've got as far as popping the badge out and can see the mechanism but the only thing I can find in there is the safety catch.

What do I need to do to manually operate the mechanism from here?

Pics for reference.

Thanks
Patrick

Where the cable end is, you need to push the metal part to the right.

Pull on the Ball part of that catch, where the cable feeds, you can use a screw driver and pull the lever or push it to the right.

If the Handle is not still attached to the Cable on the inside that is the issue that the Cable comes out of the handle.
It is a pretty tough pull that you usually have to use a pair of pliers on to grip the ball end of the thing at the handle.

I tried like hades to fish it back, but ended up taking the handle off and then attacking the cable and rebolting it to the "a" pillar.  It reminded me of a Bicycle Brake Handle.
