Adaptor sleeve on steering column Will. Not. Budge!

Post

My ignition switch is failing on my 1993 Cabby Clipper.

To get to it I have to remove the steering wheel and adaptor sleeve that's on the steering column. This is on a splined shaft and is meant to slide off.

It simply will not budge.

I've tried using a puller tool, lots of WD-40, and heat. Hell, I even attached a rattle gun to the puller tool to try and get it to move.

It simply won't budge. Not even a millimeter. It's gotten to the point where I'm actually damaging the shaft and outside of the sleeve trying to pull it.

This is driving me insane. What can I do?

Have you tried a wheel bearing puller? OPPS typo Bearing separator.

Also you might get to a breakers, and take the Inner shaft out of a Breaker that is correct.  You may also need to take the Turns and wiper stalk as well.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Sorry for the late reply.

Yep the bearing splitter worked a treat for me. Thanks!
