Worth a punt?

I was going to try to get somebody famous to open our show this year…

I think it's probably a *really* long shot, but I was going to shoot for one of the following, all who have expressed an interest in the MK1…

A - Jeremy Clarkson
B - Vicki Butler Henderson
C - Penny Mallory
D - Mike Brewer

Any other suggestions?

I know they all have their irritating aspects (!) but it might be a bit of fun and add some kudos, after all, I've always believed you have to speculate to accumulate…. and we are talking about the best car in the world ever and the fastest growing VW club in the land! :wink:

Ive had clarckson in the back of my cab and hes a bit of a laugh….(he knows how to swear as well). Try and go for Clarkson!!!

Penny Mallory is an ex-rally driver, used to host C4's Driven with Mike Brewer and Jason Plato (Touring Car Driver). Little known fact - I think she did the stunt driving for Renault's Papa-Nicole Clio advert in the 90's. Is she a big mk1 fan?

Not a big fan of Clarkson (a bit like a real life Alan Partridge :wink: ) but he is well known and always praised the MK1 - although I'm not sure he should be allowed after bumping that mk5 into a mk1 on Top Gear a while ago :naughty: . Mike Brewer and VB Henderson are also big mk1 champions recognised by most car fans. If you can get any of them Drew, it will be a good publicity coup 8) .

Although what about getting Guigaro to open the show

What a fantastic idea Drew. Jeremy Clarkson (imo) is the one to go for, he just loves the MK1 GTI, who knows he may do the honours for free.

I've met Jeremy, Penny and Mike a few times for various reasons associated with the mk1 and Vicki Butler Henderson is well…

I'd vote for Vikki Butler-Henderson though… have you heard her squealing when she drives a car around the track? Does it for me anyway! ops:

I remember when she was reviewing the Pug 106 Rallye when she first started I was impressed and she can drive too

I thought he'd only had scirocco's? My dad's seen Quentin before, he said he was impressed at how much abuse he had for Clarkson.Still gotta be Vikki for me.

When is the show? Where etc? You could try to film some footage for that dvd!! ....Walt!
