What was the first ever watercooled FWD VW?

Not the Golf Mk1, not even the Scirocco, Polo or Passat! It was the K70, which flopped (spectacularly). This car must be 'rare'!!!! Ah well, nobody seemed to want this one for ?600!

It looks like an old audi - is that possibly because it's the same car?

MK1 GTI Campaign
MK2 GTI 8v
Imitation Magic Tree - 'Black Ice' smell
Plenty of rust
Embarrasing fuel problem
Porous cooling system!

Its a design by NSU. Completely different parts to any other VW, nightmare for the parts supply chain, etc. Apparently, Audi and NSU were part of Auto Union, which was bought up by the VW Group in 1969 or something. The NSU K70 was about to be launched but they 'rebadged' it VW K70.

The first ever VW Passat was a rebadged Audi 80 - but they only sold hatchback and estate versions of the Passat, while the Audi 80 was sold as a saloon and estate. The first Polo was a rebadged Audi 50, but the Audi 50 was never imported into the UK.
