2 months mot 1 litre engine 14 owners lots of rust and dents wobbly seats fuel leak doh!!! and you can bet your life it needs loads of welding i think 50 quid would be generous .. but thats my opinion... :banghead:

First point that strikes me is that the paintwork is obviously uncared for, yet he claims its "actually very solid underneath". Hmmmmm…… Definitely worth a thorough check there.

Secondly, its a GTI lookalike (never the same as a real one) but its missing many of the original GTI parts which would make it look like a GTI (original interior, red striped grille, original alloys, front & rear badges (do you know how rare these are???), side stripes, dashboard, etc).

I'd honestly wait until a real GTI comes along, maybe it would need welding, but it would probably contain more of the original trim, which can offset some of the cost to bring up to standard. You can find bargains if you are canny…

I'm sure I've seen this car up before??

I wouldn't go near it to be honest, No way is it worth ?500…..it'll need hundreds spending on it, pretty much straight away??

?500-ish should get you a nice little 1.1…..but not this one!

4640119846  check this number out on ebay unsure of how much it will go for but looks a lot better than the car you are currently looking at and with the extra money you would have thrown at that shed you can put the money toward the insurance…4641463206 another one needs work but would tidy up nice ..

Think it's all been said, I wouldn't touch with a long sticky one! There's plenty of straight MK1's for that money, so don't waste it!

Good luck and keep us posted

Seems ok as a fixer upper. Not sure i'd pay ?500 but near that ish i suppose, its IMPOSSIBLE to tell without actually seeing it. Go and have a look BEFORE you bid. Check the usual bits and pieces.

Shame people on here don't think anything is worth anything until they actually own it. You can guarantee some people on here would be asking not far off that if it was for sale on these here boards.  :banghead:
