turbo charger fitting for an 03 beetle

A colleague of mine has a turbo diesel beetle, 03 that she suspects needs a new turbo.  She has been quoted a thousand quid fitted.  Is this the going rate, and is there anyone in the Leicester area that you guys can recommend to fit it. thanks Peebee.
