Prize idiot day for me!

On my way to work this afternoon, I was messing about with my CD's cos the radio was crap.  Now, I just changed my tax disc a few days ago, so they were lying around among the cd's.  Somehow, I managed to pick a cd up with a tax disc stuck to the bottom of it.

Needless to say, it's now stuck in the cd player, and I can't play CD's.  Can't get it out cos it's got those foamy seal things across the CD entry slot.  Thinking I might just tell my dad it broke (somehow…..), then I can have a shiny new one :P

Probably best to check you haven't put a CD in the corner of your windscreen.  :)

Not actually that rare in the IT industry. I've lost count of the number of times I've pulled items out of floppy disc drives or CD drives (the common implementation of the 'tray' design makes it much easier to get the tax discs out).

My advice is to turn the unit so the slot is vertically down, and to try to delicately tease it out with a knife. If you expose enough of the edge of the tax disc, gently pull it using tweezers or thin nosed pliers, but do not force it since you are aiming for complete removal, not tearing 100s of shreds off individually.

If this fails, the chassis would have to come off the unit, which means strippng down and building it up again. Perhaps you can simply remove the front panel, or it might need more panels coming off.

Another question, I have to ask, is it your current tax disc or an old one???
