Well no, not totally pointless, the guy that thought it up may make some money out of the petrol companies doing a deal with them.
Long Term though its just a loyaty card, every car forum ive seen has people banging on about it, just don't see how it can work?
Why would they lower petrol prices?
The other companies would just bring out equivalent cards and they would all alter the price of petrol to compensate, so if you don't have a card of some sorts your screwed, and if you do get one you're tied to one petrol brand. If they're free then everyone gets them all anyway and it becomes a totally pointless exersise.
Basically ends up screwing smaller chain petrol places even more as they won't be able to run a loyaty card system unlss lisenced by a bigger fuel company!
In the short term it may have some level of discount (so in that sense I guess, might as well give it a poke) but long term the overall price will just creep up to take into account the 'discounts' that people are getting.
The petrol companies will love it, it will tie people into just going to their brand petrol stations (well, initally to get the discount anyho).
aaaannnnyywaaaaay. No harm in signing up
I think i'm getting more and more cynical everyday….

You get 200k members, go to a fule company, work a deal, and get a discount.
They benefit as they have 200k buying THEIR fule that's not a bad cunk of the UK driving population buying from them.
Very simple idea, no catches.
