How much is it worth?

Hi guys,

My mate has a 91 Mk1 Karman clipper 1.8 carb, 123k - totally original condition (just a few nicks here and there). Any ideas how much it's worth? :dontknow:

Thanks!

I would think you are looking anything between ?1300 for a good useable MOT'd one to ?2800 tops. Totally immaculate low miles may pull a shade more.

The GTI ones are worth a bit more I would think. See if one of the other forum posters comes back to you as I know a couple of the regular posters have cabbies.

Tip - sell it in late spring not now.

I'd second adolf on the time of year selling thing. For any kind of convertible you want to be buying around Nov - Feb for the best deals and selling late March - Sept.

From buying and selling the MX-5's I have had over the years the time of year can make a significant difference. Only exception to this is real minters - these usually fetch top money whatever time of the year they are sold.

Me did it wrong, brought my convertible in May!  Well it was the summer, and I wanted it!  Of course, right after I brought mine, You always see about 15 more better ones for less money. Oh well, such is life.

Incidently I've always wondered wether I got a good deal or not with mine. It's a 'A plate GTi convertible, fairly new hood, 60,000 miles with all old MOT's but unfortunitely no real history (apparently it was lost with the original owner who had it for 19 years who unfortunitely died, so chances of ever locating it are nill)  I'm the 3rd owner. Very sound bodywork, but was in need of some mechanicals. All original, interior good and clean, has had a cheap re-spray (looks ok, but far from perfect) but no real signs of serious rust even in the traditional places. MOT and TAX on it when I brought it.

I paid ?1350 for it.  Was that over priced, under priced or about right.

I don't really care too much, as I love the car anyway and will try my best not to part with it for as long as possible. Just curious.
