friday fun
while on the phone to the mrs's while looking out the window at my gti cabrio, some old fool in a honda crv 4x4 was reversing out of a space and you guessed - yep - the bar stuward cliped my nearside bumper and lifted it.
down went the phone and i shot out side. there was not a lot of damage to the vdub but what a mess it had made of his plastic piece of crap. this could of all been sorted out normally but the guy got out and was a arse straight away
he had the cheek to tell me that it he responsible because it was because the accident was on private property - what the hell!
i had to laugh, but told him i didnt care if it happened on the moon. he wouldnt give me his insurance details so i got a bit shirtty.
so he phoned the police and told him to stop wasting time because no one was injured and i'd not asulted him(so close) and to give me his details
insurured with saga - says it all!
he then had the cheek to ring me back an hour later and asked if i wouldnt go through the insurance.
does this just happen to me? i seem to attract idiots
good bit of fun for my workmates for the afternoon watching me get mad
it show that vw are built good and proper though

Yeah, if its definitely not your fault (your car was parked and stationary, so it can't be….) then go through the insurance, if you try to deal directly it will probably be more hassle and you'll be worse off. Get it thru insurance, make sure a decent repair job is done, make sure you get a decent courtesy car off the bodyshop, and don't take the car back unless you're fully happy with it - after all its not your fault.
agreed. don't accept anything less than your car was before the accident. if a shoddy repair is done, demand it's done properly. you shouldn't be put out at all by this when it's not your fault at all

You are whats called a non fault accident, if i were you i would try and not involve your own insurance and either use a credit repair company like www.helphire.co.uk or try and go directly through saga as a 3rd party claimant. Also don`t settle for a garage Courtesy car make sure you get a decent hire car as this is what you are entitled to, rather then a ford ka or something.
If you decide to go through your own it will still go down as a claim against you even though its not your fault, it will still be registered as a claim and could potentially effect your policy in the future. Always best though at the very least go directly through his insurance and choose your own repairer if your not happy with the one they suggest. Will only take a quick call to Saga with the details, and they should sort it as there will be no liability issues as you was not even in the car.
cheers kenno
