Dodgy buyers on Auto Trader?

I'm currently selling my Alfa 156 on Auto Trader and it's been on there a few days. So far three people have emailed me about it, ALL saying they wish to get it shipped (one to Germany, one to Ireland, the other one hasn't said where.)

The one in Germany has mentioned a payment by Certified Bank Draft, and all three have mentioned getting the sale done quickly and asking what the lowest price I would go to is.

Should I be suspicious of this, or is it just a freak coincidence that they all want it shipped somewhere else?  :dontknow:

Thanks for any help, I just don't want to ger scammed!

Always be suspicious about people asking to ship the car unseen. I mean, how many people buy a used car these days without viewing it first or getting it inspected. The Ireland one would be the most realistic request from the three but be be very wary. Try and get them to confirm delivery details and payment details. I'll bet they don't quite add up.

Certified Bank Draft has no more integrity than a cheque - and they can be cancelled/reversed 6 months in the future, if the money was fraudulent. Do you fancy having to pursue a non-payer internationally?

I can't really understand why anyone in Germany would want a RHD car, bought in UK. I'd say you're right to be suspicious. So take all precautions such as not releasing the car, until payment is secured etc.

I wouldn't even give it a second thought, its a scam. How difficult is it to buy a 156, not a rare motor. (Nice car I must say:D ).

If they don't ring or they are telling you how they are going to pay before seeing it then they're not a genuiene buyer. Would you buy a car without seeing it!!!

Good luck with your sale.
