Campaign Golf - How much is it worth?

Hi, looking for some advice/guidance.

I've found a Mk1 Golf GTi that I'm considering buying. It's a Lhars Green 1984 'A' plate and being advertised as a Campaign model. I've checked it's campaign credentials against the checklist and it has all the necessary items including the EW chassis number. It is also in very good, genuine condition with only small easily treated spots of rust and drives just like it should. It's a UK spec German car, originally bought by a British soldier stationed in West Germany. It has a slightly different golfball gearstick knob (no gears indicated on it) and "Wolfburg Germany" small badges on both front wings.

Any ideas how much it's worth? The only is looking for offers in excess of ?3k.

camaign price

Hi

Price depends upon a number of factors, mainly condition of the vehicle.  There are often Campaigns going on ebay for ?1500-2000, but they are in need of restoration.  If you buy a Campaign that doesn't need any respray/parts etc and in excellent condition, its worth significantly more.  ?3k and up seems to be about the right price now.

I've just paid ?3.5k for a helios blue with 134,000 miles.  Apart from the alloys needing a refurb, its near mint, having resently had a full respray, new bumpers, wheel arches etc.  I was tempted to buy a nice silver Campaign from wagonwheels, 1 owner 91k, origional paint job (not respray), but they wouldn't budge from ?4,995.  It depends on people's perception of what they think they are worth.  I was offered a silver one with recon engine in fair/poor condition for ?3.1k.  Have a good look around, but that price seems ok to me.

Anyone know what i should pay for a 1979 GTi in good condition with origional wheels, tartan interior, 3-spoke steering wheel etc?? Or indeed where to get one?!
