Bizarre co-incidence.........

Had a bit of luck whilst selling my MX-5  . The guy who I sold it to, (another MX-5 OC member), came over to collect it the other day and saw my golf on the driveway.

We got chatting and he said that as a kid he used to collect car brochures, and that although he had sold / geiven away most of them now, he still had a few left, including some VW ones. Anyway it turns out he had a 4 page UK Campaign brochure  , which I will shortly have in my grubby little hands in exchange for a few quid and a Mk2 MX-5 workshop manual  

Strange how things work out really - I don't think I would have got my hands on one otherwise as they seem to fethc stupid money on ebay these days. Its always nice to have a bit of history about the cars that you own imho.

P.S. I think he has some older golf and cabby brochures along with a golf GX brochure too. These are not of much interest to me, but if anyone else is interested and wants to make an offer I am happy to pass it on.

Did you see any nice Veedub's when you were on holiday? I saw loads of Bora's (Jetta) but not much else. I also looked at an immaculate Karmann Ghia for $5000 at lake tahoe but just the problem of getting it home.. There was no room left in my suitcase after buying all the Levi's.

You can get all the gory details of my trip on the old forum in my post "Rabbit spotting accross the pond", but basically I saw only Jettas and Boras and the occasional Camper / KG - disappointing really.

First day of driving I did see a shabby looking Mk1 Rabbit GTi on the freeway, but that was about it.

I know what you mean about wanting to bring stuff back - clothes in general and  shoes  / CD's very cheap. Bought a few gadgets too, but ran out of money / space in the suitcase!!!!!!
