all mk1 van owners!

hi, i have a series 1 golf van and was wondering how many of you own 1?? as i have never seen another 1 before, must be quite rare? its in ok condition body wise and is original apart from the alloy wheels… planing to fully restore her,

anyone know how many were made? how many left? how much these are worth roughly?

just seen this post after your welcome one… ive got an 82 s2 van that im in the middle of completly re-doing.. i have heard about 10 mk1 vans left on the road in britain.. but then you will have afe in barns and stuff… ive tried to find out off the dvla but struggled! my vans black with a 1.3 petrol engine and i wasnt sure if it was original but after contacting the dvla i have a copy of every owner from new and all the changes that were made to the vehicle since it was produced! as smudger said foxys got a van.. ive seen afew non originals but not many originals.. as for price its hard to say ive always said it would be worth more than an original mk1 cos there rarer however because there isnt many around you cant reely price them against anything… all you can price them against is the standard mk1… if your van in car form was worth £3k you could try selling it at £6k but its only worth that if someones willing to pay it.. personally id just say go off the price of a normal mk1 golf hope that helps would love to see some pics of ur van tho!

aparently theres 43 licenced and 37 sorn golf vans however these are only from 1985

deelej your info was very helpfull. i tryed to post a picture of the s1 but can seem to get one up, do i need to make a photobucket account or is there another way?

i cant believe it but i found another s1 golf van like mine all the same apart from its got the original rims aswel, i asked the guy to sell me it, and he said ok but wants 5000…was thinking to buy it but alot more pricey then what i paid. and not sure once restored ill get my money back if i was to sell it….what do you think?

my mums old van just got resold,S2 diesel converted to KR,wouldve picked it up but I just bought another new car. Should be back on the road soon hopefully

dont know if i should just restore it to 100% factory or to give it a full respray, lower it, put some bbs's, leather front seats, chrome bumpers- mirrors grill etcc and maybe a 20vT or 2.0fsi??

its currently a diesel (very economical) with the 4speed gearbox.

Difficult one mate tbh. If it were me I would leave it fairly standard perhaps lowered a bit with some nice rims
