JMR MK1 Golf 020 rear gearbox/engine mount
Our rear engine/gearbox mount… it replaces the the std assembly which is notorious for its lack of support, even with the fabled diesel mount, and the hard blocks available transmit a lot of vibration and some can suffer with the bolts eventually pulling through.
This mount incorperates a rubber bush but with superior location. The main bracket is double folded, and the mount bracket braced to prevent spreading.
Thats not shiney black paint but powder coating, and all bolts shown come in the kit… nothing to go hunting for at the local factors.
The retail on my site for these mounts is £80 plus postage, which is normally a fiver.
But… for my fellow MK1 owners I have a deal or two…
Individual mounts come to club members at £75 plus postage, or…
If 5-9 of you at a time are interested I can get them down to £70 each plus postage, but…
If 10 of you can get together they can be done for £65 each plus postage!
And it gets better!… if 15 or more arrange one postage location and then you all collect from a club meet… I'll pay the postage for the one big parcel myself!
How does that sound?

Would that small rubber bush which looks like same as on wishbone be enough?
How does this differ in performance compared to original?
Thanks
It is indeed.
The original mount allows a lot of movement due to it's design.. it naturally spreads and compresses.. obviously ours cant do that so offers much better location.

While you are answering questions, do these not transmit more noise/viabration into the cabin, the bush is actually rubber is it, would not a softish polly one be better and lastly i assume these would just bolt up to the bracket for an o2a g/box same as the normal golf one does.
Anywhere the OE mount and bracket fits this will too as it picks up off the std floor mounting points & "C" shape bracket on the rear of the gearbox.. the two front bolts go straight in where the OE mount comes out.
It is rubber yes. I did consider that originally but wanted a mount that could be used for road cars as well as competition.
If you were considering a polly bush then you cant be too worried about increased vibration … not that I'm aware of, though most have been fitted in competition cars so far with feedback of much better location than the OE mount (which it would), none of the road cars have mentioned any noticable vibration, my own is off the road so I cant tell myself yet, though I'm sure it wont be as harsh as the hard nylon one I normally run…"nothing" will transmit vibration like that!.

Looks like a copy of the autocavern mount ……….a good piece of kit , if I had the cash i'd buy one. , ………. would like to know where to get replacement bush for when needed .. ……lol send me a free sample and I will do a test report on my g60. :-)
There used to be an Autocavan version may years back that was similar yes, but it's not actually a copy… there's not many ways to join point A with point B with a mount in the middle.. a wheel will always be round… except the semi square steering wheel (honest!) on the old Austin Allegro's for thoses old enough to remember them!
Replacement bushes wont be a problem, but they're not likely to wear out that quickly.
Free sample eh…. all I can say is watch this space… kind of.

My fabricator wont knock up odd mounts for no profit I'm afraid..plus that wouldn't be fair on everyone else.
I've got a batch going out to road cars next week so I'll have some road feedback as soon as they fit them..the racers are happy with location over the o.e mount..which it would obviously be better.
There will however be some feedback via here soon…watch this space as they say.

The reason i changed from the oem mount is that the engine had too much back and forth movement under hard acceleration….so much so it gradually loosened the oem mount! The engine seemed to 'bounce' up and down on the mount. Not good. I also replaced the front mount with a 'world cup' mount from the same place.(although the name of the company escapes me at the mo!)
My pro's for this mount are;
Engine movement virtually non existent.
Doesn't come loose anymore.
Gearchange 'feels' better.
Improved launching from a standing start.
Rubber bush seems to be lasting better than original.(been told it is a mk2 Escort leaf spring bush thats used)
Engine just feels more 'solid' and 'tied in'.
The only drawback is an increase in noise/vibration/harshness (NVH) through the car/chassis. After previously running a 'diesel mount' i'd say the new mount has about the same amount of NVH. I actually cut a small 'slither' of rubber out of the original oem mount and placed it between the new mount coming off the chassis and the bracket/mount on gearbox. This reduced the NVH to acceptable levels.
Overall I've been happy with the mount and would buy again.
