Just thought I would post up about a bad experience I had with the above lot.

Took my old mk2 there because whilst changing the water flange I sheared a bolt and because it was in the engine block and at an awkward angle I needed them to drill it out.

They phoned my g/f, not me, to report that along with the above it needed two new track rod ends and ARB links on both sides.  Now I knew this to be false as I had changed one of the ARB links about a fortnight before when doing a brake conversion.  Unfortunately they may, dare I say it, have used all their professional nous to convince my g/f into agreeing to ?250+ worth of work.

Foolishly I picked up the car and didn't inspect the work until too late, only to find that
a) They had charged what I regard as as unreasonable 2 hours labour for the ARB links
b) They had only changed the one!  Unfortunately when I collected the car I haggled with them to only charge for the one link as I knew mine was fine, but the man behind the desk insisted they had done both which is an out an out lie.  But since the receipt only says one was done…

They did, however, drill out the sheared bolt which was the whole source of the trouble.

Needless to say I won't be going there when they insist on charging extortionate amounts for unnecessary work!
