Weber DMTL on 1600

Hello, I am a new member in New Zealand. I bought an 87 Cab in damaged condition and replaced the struts and steering. It ran poorly and after searching this site I put it down to the Pierberg carb.
Being a VW Kombi person I found the carb very complicated, even the local VW shop said to bin it and get a 'Weber'
There is lots of info on Webers and Golfs but much of it is vague and contradicts other info.
Eventually settled on a DMTL, but they are from the 80's and were fitted to Landrovers (and others I suppose).
Eventually found a NOS one on Aussie Ebay and won it for $ 46 Aus!!!!!
The first Carb 'expert'had it for three weeks and got nowhere finding the jets I had listed of the net.
Took it to Weberspecs and he said the ones on the list looked iffy…
Anyway $ 230 later, he rang me, said it would be perfect ( yeah right, I thought).
Matey made up the adapter shown on:
http://www.cowbie.co.uk/weber.htm
Pulled off old one, bolted it on, used the old linkage and fitted a choke cable.lenghtened fuel line. Still need to make filter adapter.
Result….started first time and idled!!!!! runs like a charm, I was amazed.
Took around 3 hours and I had to make a 6 to 8 mm stud.
If anyone is interested I have all the jet sizes.
