Weber carb help required

My 1.8 clipper has a replacement Weber carb fitted. it has been in storage for 14 months. went to start it today and it runs fine with a bit of petrol poured into the carb but won't keep running. Pulled the inlet pipe off the carb and fuel was pumping out when turning the engine over on the starter. So seems like a blockage in the carb?
Any ideas on where to start?Would there be any electrical or vacuum connections that would cause this?

has it still got the metal reservoir on the front of the rocker cover? try bypassing that. not sure why but sometimes these fail. means you have to block the return to tank. if it was me id be on the lookout for another.

Unfortunately car is stored at a friends house so I won't be able to look at it till next weekend. Speaking to a mechanic friend he has suggested the float may be stuck as this happens on his old landrover when stored so will investigate that next week.

if you feel happy opening up the carb to have a look, this is what I would start with. old fuel goes pretty nasty!

Could be the floats sticking for whatever reason.

could be a blocked jet somewhere in the carb?

you could try stripping the carb and fitting new service parts.

check the fuel filter for tiny bits of crap.

good luck.
