New metering head/pipes - wont start!!!!!

I have recently replaced
All injectors with Mercedes equivalent
Injector pipes with H.E.L pipes
Upgrade 16v WUR and pipes
Metering head reconditioned by K-jet system

I've bled the fuel system right up to the injectors but I ONLY get fuel from the injectors if I manually operate the air flow flap that pushers the fuel plunger. (by pulling it up)

My impression is that pressure is pushing down on the metering head plunger, stopping the flap from lifting on its own and the issue I have is with the reconned metering head.

I though I'd ask on here in case someone had had this problem or could advise before I try a different metering head? Thanks!

Well the 16V WUR has the wrong control pressure settings for the 8V engine, so that won't help.

When you say bled the fuel system what do you mean ?
There is nothing to bleed, fuel that does not flow out of the injectors is returned to the tank.

Fuel will only flow out of the injectors when the flap is lifted either manually or when the engine is sucking air in.

Did you set the height of the flap disk correctly ? That determines the initial air fuel ratio, along with the WURs control pressure.

To be honest I say this so often about kjet, it is a fuel pressure and restrictor system, the only way to test it is with a pressure guage and some measuring jars. Haynes has a great section on it, follow it methodically and you will discover how simple it is. This stops random changing of parts without really knowing what is going on.

Cheers,
Ade

Hi and thanks for the speedy response. Ive tried running with the original WUR (8V) which i know is serviceable and i still have the same problem.  The gap around the air flap to cone is fine. My plan was to get the car running and make the short journey to the garage to get the control pressure, fuel mix e.c.t. set up as they have K-Jet test gear……

I've read quite a bit about K-Jet plus the only thing thats been messed with (reconditioned) was the metering head which makes me think it might be that, but like you said i think ill order a test kit and check supply/control presssures first. Thanks again

if you replace anythign in the fuel system this will throw out the idle and cvo settings. if they're far enough out the car wont fire! if this happens its a case of fiddle with them till it fires then adjust it better when warm. even changing the fuel unit for another off a car the same engine can cause this!
