mercedes brass fuel injectors, any good?

Post

I am looking at replacing the injectors on my golf and have been told that the brass ones meant for mercs that are listed on eBay are the same but made of brass but cheaper than the steel ones fitted to golfs. Has anybody fitted them or can confirm that they are the same or knows of an alternative? Appreciated

As far as I know they will fit and are an alternative for the steel VW version.

yarp they're just an alternative part, arnt an upgrade or anythign though the fact they are brass means they dont corrode. they only fit early mk1 fuel lines as they're coarse thread. of course you can swap early lines to later car no problem :)

Sorry for hijacking an old query. As the new Head is going on, Dave Crisell suggested new sparks and maybe injectors too.

These are the original injectors.

Not had any issues with them, but not sure if I am looking at good ones or not. Should I just refurb or replace like for like?

I would ideally like the mercedes brass ones but concerned they won't match the fuel lines from the metering head(?) The ones in the pic are stock as far as I know.

The only fuel lines actually changed are the main ones from the underside (flexi ones from Mark Carter).

If it helps, here is a pic of the injector seats in the Head too:

Many Thanks

the only reason people were using the merc ones was because they used to be dirt cheap back in the day, could get a set for £50. these days they're a bit more expensive, close to the cost of the oem metal ones.

test yours, if they spray nicely no need to replace. if they're bad, then buy new ones.  clean them up and check the part numbers, if its an earlier MK1 they are the same thread as the merc brass ones

Hey John,

Thanks for the response. It is a 83 dx though so not so early. :-)

Me and workshop decided to tidy up the current ones and see how we get on, as you suggested.

Getting the new head and system running right after 10 years has got me a bit anxious.

Looking at the rusty connection between the fuel pipe and injectors you may have fun trying to unscrew your injections, get it running and see what happens seems the best idea.
