VDO guages --help
When i start my gti up from cold the oil pressure flies right up to maximum 5 bar and then when it warms it falls to 3 bar,untill you increase revs then it goes upto 5 bar. According to haynes manuel when oil temp is at 80 degrees and revving at 2000 rpm oil pressure should be 2 bar. I'm suspecting the oil pressure sender is suspect.Trouble is these guages and sender unit are an after market extra,think there Audi.Anybody know where to source a new sender?,or any info what could be wrong

I will have a look at reading on mine this morning. Have the same VDO gauge.

Mine is running at a tad under 3 bar. So I think you gauge is OK.

Results same for my car GTI DX engine, Audi VDO guages. I think the 2 bar spec is absolute minimum on a worn engine.

cheers for that at least i'm on the right side then,better than no oil pressure
