points

hi,  can you help please,    ive a mk1 golf 1300cc,   ive put new points in about a week ago, but the points are black making it to misfire,   i   checked the points and cleaned them its ok now    "touch wood"    what causes them to go black and what is the solution,   much appriciated

You should also have fitted a new condensor , this prevents the points burning
